RIP Doña Paquita


Doña Paquita has died in Almería at 103


Owner of the El Romeral, located in the Cabo de Gata -Nijar, ran it for nearly 80 years, ensuring the conservation of this unique and symbolic place.


Doña Francisca Diaz Torres, Doña Paquita, has died in Almeria to the age of 103 years. One of the most favorite spots in Andalusia, an honorary title awarded by the Junta de Andalucía in 2010, Díaz Torres was born in 1911, daughter of Judge Andrés Díaz Almeria and Nijarean Josefina Torres. She studied at the College of the Society of Mary of Almería, she married at the age of 21 José González Montoya. Affable a well-traveled restless woman, Francisca Diaz Torres was "advanced in defense of sustainability" theme of the regional award.


First with her husband, Jose Gonzalez Montoya and alone after his death in 1976, consolidate and sustained management of this estate of over 3,000 acres.
