Remembering Brigitte Krause


Brigitte Krause was born on March 9, 1929 in Berlin, Germany. During her acting training from 1948 to 1950 in the DEFA Studios, she made her debut as a young student Christel in Kurt Maetzig feature film “Die Buntkarierten” (1949). Under contract from DEFA, she is given roles in “Rotation”, and “Der Rat der Götter”. In addition to her commitment to the DEFA Krause also worked as an announcer for East German television and as a spokesperson in radio plays and as a theater actress at theaters in Altenburg and Hall, later at the Theater an der Parkaue, the Hans Otto theater in Potsdam and at the Volksbühne in Berlin. From 1966 to 1988 she was part of the ensemble of the “Kabaretts Die Distel”
 
Since 1952 she has been seen often in television roles, such as in ‘Rentner haben niemals Zeit’, ‘Polizeiruf 110’ and ‘Ferienheim Bergkristall’.
 
Brigitte Krause was married to actor Gerd Biewer [1926-1981] until his death. Her daughter Maxi Biewer [1964- ] is also an actress.
