Happy 70th Birthday Thomas Fritsch


Thomas Fritsch was born on January 16, 1944 in Dresden, Saxony, Germany. He is the son of actor Willy Fritsch [1901-1973] and the dancer and actress Dinah Grace [1916-1963]. When World War II ended, his family moved to Hamburg, where Fritsch studied post-high school with Edward Marks, the director of the drama class of the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, where he also took singing and ballet lessons. Fritsch made ​​his acting debut in 1963 at the Stadttheater Heidelberg and in 1965 where he was hired by "Little Theatre at the Zoo" in Frankfurt.
 
Among his best known films include “Julia, Du bist zauberhaft” andDas schwarz-weiß-rote Himmelbett” (both 1962), and “Das große Liebesspiel” (1963). Also known as a pop singer, he peaked in the 1960s as a teen idol and was featured several times on the cover of teen magazine Bravo. Several times he collaborated with his friend singer-songwriter Suzanne Doucet.
 
In later years, he distinguished himself more and more as a serious stage actor, and as a radio announcer. Since 2002, he has been the narrator for the radio drama series ‘Die drei Fragezeichen’. He can also be heard as a voice actor in computer games and cartoons such as ‘Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer’.
