2013 National Day of the Cowboy

  1. The cowboy was, and still is, a symbol for American commonwealth. From his hat down to his boots, he was the original frontiersman. His Colt .45 made him famous and so did his Stetson. With names like Django, Ringo, and Billy the Kid, the cowboy rode the open trail for at least three centuries. Today though, the cowboy does not round up cattle on horseback. He does it in a Chevy. And he no longer wears a gun on his hip to right a wrong. Instead he settles it in a bar. But nevertheless, the cowboy remains a symbol of America's youth. And that is why I watch Westerns. Because I think that the cowboy is still a good person after all.
